Mill Creek Red Onion

A very large red storage onion that is the easiest onion I have grown. Very reluctant to bolt. In a 50 variety trial Foothill Farm Seeds voted this their best onion. Bred by Joe and Wanda Turi in California, and rescued by Bountiful Gardens Seeds. In my Bendigo garden I sow in autumn or spring, with autumn sown plants yielding bigger bulbs, up to 1 kilo in weight. They grow slowly through winter, but put on great growth when the weather warms up. Keep weed-free. When tops start to yellow, cease watering. Harvest when tops are dead, and cure in a shady airy place for 2 weeks before storing.
